The Power of Praise

www.christianavenue.blogspot.com
My Ibo people will say Ndewo, which means good morning. It is a beautiful Wednesday. The sun is up, the sky is bright, just one thing remaining for me to do, praise and thank God.
I have life, I have health, I have family, I have friends e.t.c I could think of a thousand reasons to praise God, but I doubt you have all day to read it.

Today I want to share with you the little I know about praise. Throughout the Bible, the commands to "praise the Lord" are too numerous to mention. Angels and the heavenly hosts are commanded to praise the Lord (Psalm 89:5; 103:20; 148:2). All inhabitants of the earth are instructed to praise the Lord (Psalm 138:4; Romans 15:11). We can praise Him with singing (Isaiah 12:5; Psalm 9:11), with shouting (Psalm 33:1; 98:4), with the dance (Psalm 150:4), and with musical instruments (1 Chronicles 13:8; Psalm 108:2; 150:3-5).
So what is praise. It is merely the truthful acknowledgment of the righteous acts of another.Or you can say praising God is the joyful recounting of all God has done for us. No matter who you are praising, be it your boss, your family, your children. You will always leave a smile on the person's face and thereby encouraging him or her to want to do more for you.
The question you might want to ask me, is that why should you praise God. When we consider the reasons why we should praise God, we find a list of His attributes. He is full of glory (Psalm 138:5), great (Psalm 145:3), wise and powerful (Daniel 2:20), good (Psalm 107:8), merciful and faithful (Psalm 89:1), and much more. This list of attributes is complemented by a list of His wonderful works. He is the One who saves us (Psalm 18:46), keeps His promises (1 Kings 8:56), pardons sin (Psalm 103:1-3), and gives us our daily food (Psalm 136:25). To try to list all the things God has done is impossible, but it is a wonderful exercise because it turns our hearts back to Him and keeps us mindful of how much we owe to Him.
Praise is a vital part of a life surrendered to God, and it gives credit where credit is due. “O that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!” (Psalm 107:8 KJV).

Some times when you pray, don't ask for anything, just praise Him. Open your heart, lift your hands and give Him thanks, He deserves it. And watch out if He doesn't multiply your blessings.
