The Richness and Affluence of Gods Glory

The other night the Lord showed me his Glory. All week I knew that my blog for the next insertion would be about Gods glory as the Lord had indicated this to me at the beginning of the week. I must confess that I had not taken much notice of this term, which embarrassed me that I knew so little.

The Holy Spirit brought to my remembrance Pauls words -we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 Cor 3 v 18 He also directed me to an experience that Ezekiel recorded as -Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. When I saw it, I fell face down, and I heard the voice of one speaking. Ezek 1 v28

As I contemplated these two verses my spirit quickened as I knew I was about to be shown and instructed by the Spirit of God. This came as no surprise for my prayer has been over the last few months to increase in wisdom and knowledge of the Lord.

Glory is a rich word full of meaning that has its origins back in the O.T... The word itself comes from a root word meaning Heavy; = to be heavy, be weighty, be grievous, be hard, be rich, be honourable, be glorious, be burdensome, be honoured. It is in this sense that it is applied to the Lord of Hosts creator of heaven and earth, for he is weighed down by his riches. It is for this reason that when the glory of the Lord fell on people that they were bowed down, so great was the burden on their souls. This was the experience of Moses and Aaron along with Ezekiel.

This was my experience also for God longs to share his glory with us. We read in John 17 as we over hear Jesus prayer to his Father this statement – “
I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: This verse incorporates one of the most significant concepts in all of the N.T. Jesus has implanted in us Gods glory. This is mind blowing territory.

Let’s back track – what is Gods glory? No one can fully explain the meaning of this holy word full of such richness that the crown jewels pail in comparison. The best meaning that I can comprehend is that Glory encompasses all that there is of God. His attitudes, character, Lordship, power – all the Hebrew words in the OT for God of which there are 32, plus the knowledge that Jesus displayed along with the apocryphal visions; then some more.
