Are you a Christian? Don’t rush
in answering that, you should first understand what a Christian is and what a Christian
is not. First thing first Christianity is not gotten through hereditary, that
mean’s, it is not a name, property or something that a parent passes or
transfers to a son or a daughter. Christianity is not a way of life as most
people think and most especially Christianity is not just a religion, its more,
it goes way beyond that. Christianity means to be Christ like, meaning to be a
Christian you should be willing to be like Christ, wear the same shoes He wore,
trade on the same path He took, have compassion, care, love and make the
sacrifice even if it is the ultimate sacrifice. That is what being a Christian
is all about. So I ask again are you a Christian? Okay now let’s understand
what a Christian is, what does it take to be like Christ, to work His foot
path. A friend of mine went to the counter to cash a check of a 100,000 naira
from a bank the cashier was rude to him, probably because of the way he was
dressed. My friend presented the cheque of 100,000 Instead of the cashier giving
him the amount on the cheque, she ended up giving him 200,000. After leaving
the banking hall, he confirmed the money and realised the excess. He did what
most Nigerians considered dumb, He came back to the cashier and gave Her the
excess of 100,000. I heard this and within me, I asked myself will I do the
same thing if I was in shoes, considering how the economy is, the amount of bills
I have to pay, I wondered, will I be a Christian in that condition?
Once you have grasped what the
word Christianity is, now lets understand it further. Christianity is a
communion of divinity. Christianity is a fellowship of the God head, i.e the
Father, the Son, and the Spirit, it’s the transcending from the natural man to
the spiritual man. When you call yourself
a Christian it means nothing can touch you, not sickness and not death. Yes,
that’s what it means. Cause over two thousand years ago when our Lord Jesus was
beaten, wounded insulted and later crucified on the cross. He took your
punishment, your sickness and died in your place, that meant as long as you a
Christian when He resurrected you resurrected with Him. And Isiah said by His
stripes which are made heal. Nothing can touch you, as long as you remain in
Him.
Are you a Christian? Imagine a
name above all other, that at the mention of that name every kneel must bow,
and every tongue confesses that Jesus is Lord. Now imagine being part of that
name, Having the name as your last name, you know you can’t be touched cause whenever
you call out that name, no matter where they are, no matter the powers that
surround you, no matter what at the mention of the name they bow, it’s a fact, it’s
not a decision they have power to deliberate on, no it’s a decree that must be
obeyed no matter what it must be obeyed. That’s one of the advantages of being
a Christian. So do you want to be a Christian?
