He arose from the dead, and forevermore lives and reigns. I find myself both rejoicing and grieving in the Spirit this morning. The folks who only want to focus and recognize the positive, do not like it when we do both. We have every reason to celebrate, they will present. In Jesus Christ, we have all that we need, and certainly I would not debate that point, because we do. What is saddening is that most just want the benefits, and want to stay worldly. Most have no desire to go on to maturity in Jesus Christ.
We hear so much presented about 'predestination'. What we lose focus of is who we are predestinated to be 'conformed unto', and that of course is the image of Jesus Christ, God's Son. This is what God has predestined us unto. Personally, I look around at not only the world, but at Christendom as well, and I see very little conforming in that regard. Personally I see those naming the name of Jesus Christ, and conforming unto the image of the world.
Whether it be music, video games, movies, morals, just name it, and the vast majority conform to the things of the world, and not unto the image of Jesus Christ. And yet these vast majority of people will make their yearly trek to church, all dressed up in their finest, and newest, fashions, to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
What about the other 364 days, or whatever, of the year? How do we adore and recognize Him then? Is He alive and reigning in our hearts and lives in them too? Let's face it, and just be real, and be honest, the vast majority who celebrate the meaning of this day, do not really know Him, nor do they really believe in Him. It is just something they do on the surface, and the inside, the real them, has not changed, and has no desire to.
Truth is, He is either Lord of our lives, living and reigning in our hearts and minds, or He is just someone we claim to know and believe in, but do not. And the truth is, if we do not live and experience the resurrection in our hearts and lives every day, through and in the Holy Spirit, as a new creation, then it is nothing more than a yearly ritual. The hope and the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ is not only a future one, it is a daily one, to those who truly know and love Him. He lives and reigns daily in His people.
And then there is the idolatry, that we mix into the resurrection. On this Holy day and occasion that we celebrate. Whether bought already decorated, or are decorated at home, we dress up the eggs, and go and hide them for the children, and we actually believe that this idolatrous ritual has something to do with the resurrection of Jesus Christ. That this practice somehow makes the holy occasion better, more special, for our churches and for our young ones. This practice needs to be repented of, and destroyed, among those who name Jesus Christ.
There is not a verse that can be used at all, that will in any form or fashion, make this practice acceptable to God, in honoring His Son. But most will find their reasons. And actually convince themselves that it is ok. Acceptable. Just as Israel did in their idolatry.
So, on this Holy day we celebrate, we have cause to celebrate, and also mourn. Till we all come unto the knowledge of His Son, Jesus Christ. And are conformed unto His image, and put all the other to death, through true repentance. And give Him all the praise and worship that He so rightly deserves. He is risen indeed, and soon to return. And the day of accounting will surely come too. And like the apostle John said, Even so, Come, Lord Jesus. Amen.
