Who will be the greatest among you?

The one who is "servant" to all. Satan wanted to ascend above God. God descended to become like us. When 'self' is the motivator, it is all about self. What motivates a person, will reveal the why's they are in it. Any leader, whether it be a secular one, or a spiritual one, that does not 'serve' others, will never be the greatest.

This is what is so messed up in our society, and in our churches. Most leaders consider themselves above all the rest, and do not serve those they are charged with. The example they set, is a very poor one, if they are not willing to empty themselves, and 'serve', instead of BE served.

Our leaders in Washington, are very willing to place burdens upon the populations they represent, yet they consider themselves worthy of so much more than the populace will ever have access to. One term, and they have a well-funded retirement for life, with good health coverage benefits, yet none of the population they represent should have access to what they do.

It is easy to see who they go there to 'serve', and the comparison of the benefits are more than proof enough of that. Most of them are nothing more than a 'den of thieves', a 'brood of vipers', or, they soon will be. How many of them, do any of you know, who are willing to live on what the majority of the population they are supposed to 'serve', "do"? Talk is cheap, what do their actions say about them, in their own life?

I remember churches where the pastor was willing to accept a salary which was much lower than most of the ones they served were. And indoor plumbing wasn't in the building, either. These days, the salary has to be well above what others get, and a building not worthy of a five-star hotel rating, is a substandard one. What is considered 'godly' has sure changed, hasn't it?

And when we get our values from Washington, and entertainment industries, then folks, we get a worldly church. When our Lord Jesus Christ said "Count the cost", He sure did not mean what most evidently believe. Did HE come, to serve, or to be served? What benefits did HE have, while upon this earth, that were above any of the rest? What mode of travel, type of house, clothes, and such, that were so much better than the ones He served?

Do you believe, that when He said "Follow Me", He did not mean in those ways as well? The spiritual insight of most within christendom today is so messed up, it is not amusing at all. In fact, it is PATHETIC. That burden that Jesus Christ said was light, was in being as He is. Not as the world is. Being as the world is, burdens folks down. And trying to pay for all those worldly things, will as well. Need proof? Look around. What are you seeing?
